YA-TE-VEO
Follow the river as the sun rises, paddle past the pod of boto dolphins twisting under the dark water like floating ghosts, and past the roving band of red fur monkeys who hang upside down from the trees. Soon in the dense canopy of foliage, the call of the white-throated toucan cuts through: eo-wan-wan. There beyond the shade of trees is where we live, in huts of dried shapaja palms like giant shaggy bush dogs lying in rest on the jungle floor.
